“Wake up, everybody, no more sleeping in bed, No more backward thinking, time for thinking ahead.” – Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes

Although the best in gospel music remains at the core of the WIDU sound, these smooth, familiar lyrics by Teddy Pendergrass remind the listening audience about “Wake Up.” The morning program airs five days a week and comprises news, discussion, debate and great information on WIDU and the WIDU radio network, as well as at widuradio.com.

Wes and Sandy Cookman envisioned Wake Up in 2007 as a hub for community involvement, a place where people can go to answer the questions, “What can I do?” “How can I make a change?” Since that time, Wake Up has become the only broadcast in Fayetteville with locally produced news and talk, delivered by an entertaining cast of radio personalities, ministers, public officials, journalists and community-minded folks. Sponsors from churches to local businesses help power the partnership which runs on the theory, “all hands on deck.” Or, as it says in Proverbs about the advantage of working together, “As iron sharpens iron,  so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17).

Wake Up has taken a lead role this election year, providing the only radio broadcast forum for candidates in all the major races as well as public “live” forums.  Wake Up truly believes that people will make the right decision if given timely, accurate information, and it lives by the motto every day – “Knowledge Based , Issue Driven”.

Wake Up airs from 9am to 1pm Monday through Friday.
